Music Looking for God in all the wrong places.
Having tried psychiatrist's and the occult I was searching for happiness and freedom. I searched for God in the universe (stars), I couldn't find him there. I searched for God in creation, walking in the woods, God was no where to be seen.

An interesting story: One day, I drove several miles out of a gas pipeline (a long cleared stretch of property). I walked looking for God. I carried a twig back to my car parked beside the road, a police cruiser was parked behind me went I got back to my car. He saw the twig in my car, "What that on you front seat?", he probably thought I was growing marijuana in the woods. I got so angry at that cop, I said, "It's a piece of nature and you think that's strange I have a Bible on my front seat". His partner was running my plate; he officer I was talking to said, "Calm down son" and they learned I didn't have any "Wants or Warrants" and let me go.

I got invited to my cousin and her husband home prayer meeting and was saved.

Did you get saved the same day you were questioned by the cop?

RE: Looking for God in all the wrong places.
It's amazing how many different places we look for God before He finds us. I was searching for a lot of years but I didn't know for what until He saved me.

I never did get into the occult, but I read a lot of self-help books and saw my share of counsellors in my pre-salvation days.

I, too, had seen a psychiatrist by the age of eighteen, and by nineteen was heavily involved in the occult: an involvement which I have never discussed, and never intend to discuss. But, in honesty, I wasn't looking for God, although I might have claimed to be; I was running from God, and I ran in many different directions, all dead ends.

We're a fine bunch of sheltered, innocent, naive types in this forum, aren't we?

We know that no man in the natural seeks to know God. We don't just wake up one day and decide, you know what, I am going to seek to know God. No man cometh unto the Father except the Spirit draws him.
