Final Propositional Revelation
Quote:our belief that the King James Bible, as edited and standardized in 1769, is God's perfect and unique word, and His final propositional revelation to man in the English language; that it supersedes the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts from which it was translated; that all English versions of the Bible since 1769 are counterfeits and frauds; and that the Authorized King James Bible is God's perfect word, and the only rule of faith and practice. We believe that there are reliable versions and unreliable versions in other languages; but that where any of these conflict with, or contradict, the King James Bible, the King James Bible is the standard against which all others must be measured. We specifically disavow allegiance to "the original autographs," because God, in His wisdom, did not choose to preserve them. The Authorized Version, called the King James Bible, is God's unique, preserved, and perfect propositional revelation, for which we thank Him, and which we strive to study, learn, and obey.

OK time for stupid question time from this old redneck!!

What is meant by the bolded phrase above. Propositional gives me the idea it is a proposal and therefore not a firm thing.

Please someone explain it to me.

Gary

RE: Final Propositional Revelation
I took it as being HIS final stand on His Word.

William? Maybe you can explain it better?

RE: Final Propositional Revelation
Dr. Ward R. Williams Ph. D., University of Minnesota, teaches what is Propositional Revelation.

Disregard the Bible test which follows, if you'd like, as it doesn't use the KJB.

I'd suggest PMing them, twin, in case they didn't see the thread.

I haven't checked out this guy who could be a false teacher.

***Mod Note***

This link removed because the video uses a modern per-version.

RE: Final Propositional Revelation
Here is a response I received (William, please don't be offended if I share it here)!!!

William Wrote:The way I use the term it refers to statements, or "propositions." It uses words. Painting or sculpture are not propositional media; but literature is. A husband and wife in bed are communicating, but it's not a propositional communication: it's a physical, sexual communication. Words aren't involved.

The Bible is God's propositional revelation. Nature is also a revelation; so is conscience; so is Jesus Christ. But the Bible is God's propositional revelation, the one in which He uses words, or propositions. The 10 Commandments were a propositional revelation; the Bible is the final one. There won't be another. And the KJB is the final English version.

Don't be confused by the fact that Jesus is referred to as "the Word." That's true, but it's not the same kind of words we're talking about here.

That's why I never capitalize the word when speaking of the Bible: only when speaking of Jesus. The Bible isn't God; Jesus is.
