RE: I WAS A WEE BIT BRAVE TODAY.
Of course William Iam careful as I said I just used it as a quick way to witness and I haven't got all caught up in it at all.
It's just a quick thing that popped into my head that I could use at the time.

I think it is a tool I can use.My sister will not be able to get what I told her out of her head so easily.

Quote:Genesis 1:14  ¶And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the Heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the Heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17  And God set them in the firmament of the Heaven to give light upon the earth,
18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

I agree that the Devil corrupts and counterfeits that which God intended for good. God put the stars up there and causes them to travel in their courses, and I believe their is something very significant about alignments and positions of the constellations, but I'm not sure. I do not believe in reading the horoscope and I think all that business is a load of hooey, the people that sell that garbage are just looking to make a buck and have no true knowledge of what they are dealing with.

I know very little of what William speaks, but I do know that he is right concerning the caution and the ties of that stuff to occultism. It is so easy to become sidetracked in these kinds of things; and beyond the horoscope, there are some people who delve into an Astro-theology and are teaching some really crazy stuff. It is dangerous.

However, saying all that, I would not hesitate to present the gospel using the constellations as illustrations to reach someone who is messing around with that junk. That is very interesting and as long as it will cause them to stop and think and possibly turn to God, use it. Now I wouldn't make it part of my regular presentation (and I'm not saying that you are, I'm sure you are not), I would keep that in reserve and use it only as needed.

RE: I WAS A WEE BIT BRAVE TODAY.
As I've said here a million times before, my parents were really into the occult. I have an especially poignant memory about astrology. For long periods of time, my dad didn't pay any attention to me. One day my mom showed me a book of hers where Dad had underlined all the traits in my "sign" that he felt were an accurate description of me. I was surprised that he even knew me well enough as an individual to recognize my traits and I was so very flattered to receive even that second hand attention.

My mom clipped my horoscope out of the newspaper on my birthday and sent it to me for years tucked into my birthday card. I thought it was silly, but I enjoyed the attention. Needless to say, I was heavily into astrology, not the newspaper or bar pick-up line "What's your sign?" kind.

I renounced astrology completely and was surprised to stumble upon it once again in the Gospel in the Stars format through Chuck Missler. It made me very uncomfortable. There may be something to it, and I agree that it may in certain specific cases be a good witnessing tool, and I think MrsH did a great job with her sister, but I personally stay away from it given my background.

The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Ruth 2:12

RE: I WAS A WEE BIT BRAVE TODAY.
I'd never heard of the Gospel in the stars, but it makes sense. If we can see Jesus in the sun, why wouldn't we be able to see Him in the stars?

But again, the Enemy is too good at counterfeiting. I've never had an interest in astrology, and the little attention I did pay to it before I was saved evaporated completely after I was saved.

RE: I WAS A WEE BIT BRAVE TODAY.
I was really into Chinese horoscopes before I got saved.

Within a short time of being born again, I felt that the Lord wanted me to get rid of it, and give it up. I did.

There are so many things out there in the world to distract us from the simplicity of Christ.

Pray for Eleanor & John for salvation!

Pray for Ronnie!

Pray for Gary!

Pray for Rod for salvation!

"And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for
I will give it unto thee." Genesis 13:14-17

Thanks Daniel,I only did the most brief witness over the phone about the Gospel In The Stars and I believe it is correct to do so to make an unbeliever think that whatever they have God had it right way round from the start.Valerie will not be able to see those horoscopes signs now without thinking of at least two I told her about that witness to God and she will see it is not about her horoscope to see the future it is a witness to one greater than her and not about her but Him.

What an excellent point.
