In relation to salvation, what does Romans 10:9 mean when it says confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus... thou shalt be saved..
This is just another one of my worries - maybe I haven't confessed the Lord Jesus, whatever that means..
Great question, brother. I've wondered what exactly that means too; I've just always taken it to mean that your "walk" and your "talk" match up.
Let's see what everyone else has to say!

Br. Luke, I've heard some very disturbing things concerning this verse and I think sometimes verses are over analyzed. I prefer to use the simple common sense meaning of the verse. If I were to ask you concerning salvation, what would your answer be? Would it be Jesus or something else?
Are you trusting church membership?
Are you trusting good works?
Are you trusting sacraments?
Are you trusting philosophies of men?
Do you believe in evolution?
Are you an atheist?
What are you trusting to save you?
The obvious answers are no, no, no, no, no, no, Jesus. If that's your answer, you confess Jesus.
The opposite of confessing would be denying. Do you deny the Lord Jesus? Do you deny his salvation? Again rhetorical questions, that should be answered no.

I think I'm going to note that in my Bible, brother. Thank you!
"Jesus is Lord", the son of God. You have to have faith to say this in truth, and only you and God know if you mean it.

Another way to think about it, is if you were on trial in a court of law charged with being a Christian, would you confess to or deny that you are guilty of being saved by Jesus. This is an unusual concept in our modern world of freedom, although it may not be for very long. This would really hit home for Christians in Muslim countries and other countries that persecute Christians. It was a real thing for Christians during Paul's time. They were stoned, tortured, burned, and killed in the arena. Confess Jesus and die, Deny Jesus and live.
Another interesting thought is evidence. If you denied Jesus, would there be enough evidence to convict you, despite your plea?
Amen Brethren,
M't:10:34: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
M't:10:35: For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
M't:10:36: And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
M't:10:37: He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
M't:10:38: And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
M't:10:39: He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
M't:10:40: He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
M't:10:41: He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
M't:10:42: And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Please forgive me brethren and friends for I hold kind of a "radical" view of "confessing Jesus as Lord". I believe that in this day and age of great deceptions, one must continually confess the Lord Jesus Christ throughout our Christian walk. If we cannot, then we must examine ourselves wether we are in faith. For even if we backslide for years, (in which I did) God will still do things in your life to bring back to your "remembrance, whatsoever things in which He has said unto us" thus the power and "proof" of God's Holy Spirit who indwells us, and does not casts us away, yet comforts our heart by "reminding" us of the blessed WORDS of our Great Savior.....Isn't HE good. We should walk in joy and give him ALL Glory. In Jesus Holy Name, Amen
iSAVEDbyGRACEi.
We do confess who our master is by our daily lives. Whether it is the flesh and the prince of this world, or the Spirit and the Lord of glory.
I too backslid for years. The difference is a backslider never looses the Spirits conviction; an apostate goes his way, and never looks back.

Indeed Amen, beloved tocayo, Amen Indeed.
