Am also working my way through Deuteronomy in my Bible reading.

Boy, those two books alone will put you about a hundred miles ahead of 2/3rds of the pastors in this country! Scofield wasn't perfect, but that little book is a gem.

Lynne, it isn't really necessary to read the Fen books in order; and Gilded Fly is not the best in the series. I prefer to read series books in order, too, like the Mary Russell books and Harry Turtledove's series (is "series" its own plural?); but it's not always necessary. The James Bond books (which were so infinitely superior to the movies) could be read out of order, too. (I mean Fleming's books; the successors haven't been worth the paper they were printed on.) So can these, which I will continue to recommend until you actually read one (I'm only showing you three of them):

Thanks so much for reminding me! I hadn't written those down or put them in a wish list before we lost the first thread and I had forgotten all about them.
I just put a hold on

at my library. They'll send me an email when it's ready for me to pick up. Cool. I worked with a health and human services provider to the Navajo Nation when I lived in Santa Fe so I'm really looking forward to this.

That's a good one, and you're welcome. But, while we're reminding....

If you don't read this book, I'm gonna send the black helicopters after you for sure!

I also highly recommend that book.

I finished CI Scofield's "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth". Am going to move on to Clarence Larkin's "Rightly Dividing the Word" next. But plan a short rest area stop at "Why I am not a Calvinist" by Dr. Ruckman, first.

Larkin's book will take me awhile the print is small so have to take my time. I also have some fiction will sprinkle in here and there.
I cannot find a copy of Ruled Brittania to bless myself with up here! :( That one actually looks interesting.

I have a digital copy in PDF format, would gladly send it to anyone who wants to read it.

I just finished

I know this is all purely subjective, but I thought it was one of the best police procedurals I've ever read. I have a habit of checking reviews on Amazon and I find it interesting how split the opinions are: 95 people gave it a five star rating and 74 gave it one star. I rarely see that. I'm trying to figure out why people are so polarized by this book. I think I liked it so much because it is about repressed childhood memories, something I live with, and the author got the feelings right.

It's on my list, but definitely not in the queue. ;)

Thank you for your very considerate reply! But I guess "queue" would be acceptable in this case, since it's one of your Anglophile books.

I won't ruin it for you, but the plot (have I told you this before?) is premised on the idea that the Spanish armada didn't sink, and that Spain conquered England. Queen Elizabeth is in the Tower of London. The only hope is ....

Well, you'll see. The main characters are Shakespeare, his troupe of players, Christopher Marlowe, and an actual Spanish poet whose name escapes me. It's fascinating.

In the few short hours since we've spoken, I've become the proud owner of a copy. Definitely my cup of tea. As always, thanks.
