I thought that it would be a good idea to have posts about different doctrines with verses confirming certain doctrines. Of course there are your standard verses on these topics that are used to prove them but I've found through the years that the Lord will give people different verses to confirm doctrines that are out of the norm and most people don't think of.
Also, it would be good to go to if you need some ammo about a particular doctrine.

I thought this post up the other day, when I read a verse and a I saw a doctrine in that verse that I have never connected with that verse.

This post is about the deity of Jesus Christ and verses proving that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.

I'm starting off with the verse that jumped out at me the other day proving that Jesus Christ is God.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

In this verse Jesus Christ is calling the commandments, "my commandments." Whose commandments are they according to the Old Testament?
Exodus 16:28  And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
Leviticus 22:31  Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.
They are the commandments of the LORD God, Jehovah. Then if Jesus is calling them "my commandments," he must be God in the flesh.

This is good material for dealing with Jehovah's Witnesses who are incapable of comparing scripture with scripture to get answers.
Very awesome idea! So, how about a different thread for the different doctrines, so we can find them easier later on?

Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 10:28 (and the rest of the passage, for context) tells me pretty clearly that Jesus is God:

Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.

John 5-6 are other convincing chapters to me.

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

There are a lot of good passages in John....

1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Bricks

OOHHH Ive got a few.

Ge:32:30: And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Jesus Revealing Himself to Man

Ex:33:11: And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

It is indeed amazing to me how the KJB translators used the capitals LORD to indicate Jehovah, for Jehovah is the rendering of the Reina-Valera.

Nu:14:14: And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.
De:5:4: The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
De:34:10: And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
Eze:20:35: And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

From what we see from these verses of the OT the LORD, Jehovah, knew His people face to face. Since we know from the Scriptures that God dwelleth in the light that No man can approach unto and that Only JESUS, the eternally begotten Son of God has Revealed Him, then we can say for sure and with certainty, that Jehovah is indeed Jesus in the Old Testament.
For our great Savior only SPOKE and Did DO the things which HIS Father hath Shown Him. And to conclude we must take consideration of the Words of our Savior Himself:

Joh:5:39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

And this means from Genesis to Revelation.

I'd not seen that one before, brother, thanks!

I have some of the 'Deity' verses written down on a tract that I keep in my Bible, for easy reference. Here are a few:

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

The child, the son's name shall be called The mighty God, The everlasting Father!

"But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom." (Hebrews 1:8)

The Son is called 'God'!

"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." (1 Timothy 3:16)

That one is kind of self-explanatory!

Good idea for a thread, brother.
Thank you brethren, this was something that was confusing me a long time ago and I have now come to the realization that the rendering of YHVH TO ME, could either speak of....
Father, Son and the Holy Ghost, for OUR GREAT GOD is ONE....and HIS HOLY NAME IS UNSPEAKEABLE, for it is totally reavealed in Him who loves us, and gave himself for us...It is indeed amazing that.....
the fullness of the invisible GOD, dwells totally in Jesus Christ, the WORD OF GOD made flesh, in the fullness of time by the power of HIS HOLY SPIRIT, who does HIS work and who created our SINLESS...
Savior upon Mary, chosen and blessed of God cause she was of the family line of DAVID, so that the prophecies could b fullfilled, more specifically Gen. 3:15, for HE is totally sinless, Him who was...
This is an obvious verse for affirming the Deity of Christ, but I always missed a little "nugget" until I heard Ruckman talk about it in a Q and A session:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

The very first clause affirms His Deity in itself:

..unto us a child is born...
That's Bethlehem, that's Jesus the human being.

...unto us a son is given... That's the everlasting, pre-existing God the Son.

The Son, and the Child ... Divine and human.
made sin for us when our GREAT GOD laid upon HIM the iniquity of US ALL, for those who will RECEIVE HIM that is...Brethren, I have yet to share some more of my thoughts with yall', for we are @ war...
