Has anyone here ever heard of/used Landmark's Freedom Baptist Curriculum?

We are looking for curriculum for next year since our oldest will be in the 5th grade (already!! wow!) We have used Rod & Staff, Easy Reasoning and Alpha Omega for K-4th but we aren't sure what to use for 5th-12th. A-Beka is too costly for us right now so we are between Alpha Omega (which is what I used growing up) or Landmark's Freedom Baptist Curriculum (this one is KJB only). Both are within our price budget and I am just looking for anyone that has used either or both or has another suggestion.

What version of Bible do they use in their books? Is it KJB??

I looked at the site I am know some of the people from there. I met them at a Bible conference several years ago in Monterrey, they got mixed up it the Spanish Bible debate, a really tragic deal. They are good people and probably have good materials.

Thank you! We will have to look into that curriculum as well, then. Smile

Hi! I'm a graduate of a school (in the PI) that uses the A.C.E./School of Tomorrow curriculum. I'm so glad I did, and I'm glad I'm also teaching here!
I have never had the opportunity to home school my children, but I am interested in the subject, and in the various resources.

May I gently offer a non-recommendation? I would sooner use any of the curricula you've named, or others, than spent ten cents of God's money on anything published by A-Beka. I know that some of their texts are very good. I know that they pay lip service to the King James Bible. But they are produced by an organization that shreds God's word and persecutes God's people, and my stomach turns at the very thought of patronizing their wretched, fleshly operation. For me, it would be a sin to use their materials; I will not, of course, judge others who use them.

My contempt for Arlin Horton and his shrewish, treacherous wife is unbridled and unbounded, and is based, not on personal experience, but things that they have done to (or said about) my brothers and sisters in Christ.

A corrupt tree cannot produce good fruit.

Thank you for your input. Smile It can be quite challenging to find material that not only uses the KJB in their texts, challenges the kiddos but that also fits into a single income family budget.
Let me interject an opposing opinion to Bro. William's here; I went through 12 years of ABeka Book curriculum, and while I would never use their Bible courses and would severely censor the History texts, I cannot more strongly recommend them on the basis of their academic instruction.

I do agree that PCC is corrupt and unbliblical, not to mention a very pseudo-King James Only school that sheds nothing but doubt and confusion upon God's word. However, I can honestly say that if you can in any way afford it (mom and dad did: four kids, single income Smile ) then it is an incalculable and priceless investment in the future of your kids.

(Consider supplementing whatever course you use with Dr. Gipp's curriculum when your kids reach high school age; a solid understanding of the Bible issue will work wonders for them when they reach the big bad world on their own.)

What curriculum is Dr. Gipp's?

I defer to your knowledge of their specific curriculum. My wife, many years ago, taught for a couple of years (in a classroom) using A Beka, but I didn't examine the material very closely: at the time, I was unaware of the King James issue, was a typical "evangelical," and, anyway, it wasn't our kids she was teaching (we had none at the time). But, with respect, I find it unfortunate that you would find it necessary to "heavily censor" part of a curriculum you generally recommend. But I can imagine what their history texts are like, and my gorge rises at the prospect....

Perhaps if one could buy the materials second-hand, it might not be so bad. I simply don't like the idea of any Christian's money going into the Horton operation. It seems (nay, is; I know not "seems") to be giving God's money to the Enemy's agents.

(I mean no disrespect to you, brother. We're just talking here!)

Their material is indeed the most expensive! That is one reason why we don't use them - we can't afford it. lol! They do have some decent materials (we got some for free at the curriculum fair and there was a private school that dumped all the readers/teacher guides in the dumpster) but I refuse to pay for them! lol!
