John 3:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one is his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
I have always heard it was John, but last night someone said it was Peter.

Doing a quick search on "whom Jesus loved", yielded the following. I would assume that Peter can be eliminated as a possibility.
Quote:John 13:23 Â Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
John 20:2 Â Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
John 21:7 Â Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
John 21:20  ¶Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Thanks Daniel. I think maybe the man twisted his words up.

I am trying to find the proof that it is John, but it is escaping me right now. There are a few more things I want to search.
If someone else has the answer, that would be great. The only thing we have proved is that it is not Peter, but that still leaves several others.
Trust me; it was John, keep looking and you will find it.
HINT:
John 21:20, Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21, Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22, Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
23, Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24, This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
There it is! I knew it was there, I was trying to cross reference it with one of the other gospels.
Thanks Samuel.
