Sometimes I've come across authors who are very intelligent and deep thinkers. They write about things that demonstrate they have truly meditated upon the word of God and combed the pages finding awesome truths.

Yet rather than let God's word speak for itself, they feel the need to demonstrate their scholarly abilities. In a feeble attempt to impress other scholars they show themselves DUMB. It is so aggravating! It really bothers me. I have books in which the author will try and expound a verse in the Greek, he will spend 3 to 4 paragraphs giving a Greek lesson, and finally he concludes the Greek means what the King James Bible already said. Why? How Stupid! What's even dumber is when they "correct" the King James Bible in an effort to teach a truth that is already in the Bible in the first place, just not in that verse. ARRRRGGGG! I can't recommend that book! I can't recommend that author!

If only he would have presented the truth, stuck with the word of God, and left the stinking Greek alone!!

Huhhhhh! Okay, I feel better.
I couldn't have said it any better myself.
It's even worse than that, Brother Daniel. My first mentors as a Christian were evangelicals; not King James people at all. (The complete NASV was published a year after my salvation; they only used the KJB until something "hotter" came along.) Anyway, these were wonderful people, people who rooted and grounded me in the truth, and I owe them an eternal debt. Some have become quite prominent, but I can't recommend their ministries to anyone, because they're so hung up on "the originals" that they've lost all spiritual authority in their teaching and preaching. One of my finest mentors, a former pastor of whom I have often spoken in this forum, was on the Editorial Board of the "New King James Version!" It makes me want to scream!

Tantrum Wall Tantrum
I am blessed to gone to PBI at such a young age. I had "pastors" and "youth ministers", of course, growing up in SBC churches, but nobody that I considered a mentor or even really admired. So far, none of the men that I've studied under have gone astray, so I've not had your experience. I can only imagine what that would be like. And yes I agree that would be worse! Lol

I am blessed my first mentor was a saved welder who taught himself the Bible. he couldn't read or understand Greek or Hebrew. He was a returning missionary from Germany. He got the burden to go, saved up, bought a ticket for him and his wife and they went. Supported their selves by working while on the field. They returned to the states because his wife got real bad sick.

My other mentors are in this forum. You know who you are.

So thanks be to God for leading me to you folks.
