I first saw Richard Nixon, in person, at the Los Angeles County Fair in 1956, when he was running for Vice-President. But I only had eyes for the baby elephant who was part of the rally.
I saw Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis at the Coconut Grove in Hollywood, when I was eight.
I was in my 7th grade history class when we received word that JFK had been assassinated in Dallas.
I took my girlfriend to see Herman's Hermits when they came to town in 1967. They had a strange opening act, which none of us really appreciated; we all wanted to hear "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter."
The opening act was a little-known band called The Who.
Ah, memory....
