Gary

I am an avid reader. One of my biggest pet peeves is misspelled words. I can understand it in a work on the scope of a novel or reference work. An author I read a lot says he goes over his material 5 times.

This morning I found a small article. Two pages of double spaced writing. He had three instances of the same word being misspelled. The word was YOU he had spelled it YU.

And it was posted on his website. He is a college graduate according to his about me page.

To misspell conflagration or some other long word is one thing but to misspell YOU. Give me a break.

OK rant over back to our regular scheduled frivolity. Biggrin

Feel better now?

Misspelled words do 'bother' me, too, but I try not to get upset...although I sometimes do when I can't understand what the writer is trying to say!
I don't like it when Saviour is spelled savior... my spell check even says saviour is wrong.

Amen

Did you notice that 'Saviour' has seven letters. Seven is the number of perfection.

'Savior' has six letters, and six is the number of man...and is used in all the new versions.

Hmm

Your spell check should give you the option to add words like Saviour and honour and grey to the dictionary. That will prevent it from showing as misspelled. My spell check shows Saviour as okay, but saviour (non-capitalized) shows as misspelled, savior (non-capitalized) shows as correct, as it should be.

He may not have even considered it misspelling. Texting and chat rooms have so bastardized communication that it's becoming standard to say things like "I rlly like ur new dress" or "See you 2morrow." (Although the latter would probably be "C U 2morrow.") I hate that kind of thing. It makes me want to scream.
Ah, so! Brother Gary, as the initiator of this thread, you really should be admonished. In the "What Are You Reading" thread, you used the word "Thanx."

Which is okay with me. I'm just sayen.

I absolutely agree. It bothers me when people us "kinda" for "kind of", or "prolly" for "probably". Also, it bothers me when people do not use "your" and "you're" correctly or "there", "they're", and "their".

In the south, it is very annoying when people substitute an "f" sound for the "th". Birthday sounds like burfday and wreath sounds like wreaf.

Guilty as charged. I use both of them. I write like I talk in my posts. If it something I am going to put out more formally I am more careful.

I probably won't change, but it would be kind of nice if I did. Biggrin

Thanx is an accepted Internet usage of Thanks. Smile
