"Leftovers"

Leftovers are such humble things,
We would not serve to a guest,
And yet we serve them to our Lord
Who deserve the very best.
We give to Him leftover time,
Stray minutes here and there.
Leftover cash we give to Him,
Such few coins as we can spare.
We give our youth unto the world,
To hatred, lust and strife;
Then in declining years we give
To him the remnant of our life.

Makes you sit back and think doesn't it ? Thanks for posting this Gary I really needed that to-day.

In Christ.

Hmm, that is also how many churches treat their missionaries. Missionaries are sent out into the battle fray, to the front lines, and rather than equipping them with the best, churches send them the worst, the junk, the leftovers.

Our church just bought a new van, so we want to bless you brother with our old one that has 300,000 miles.

Our church upgraded computers and we want you to have this ten year old laptop and printer, I hope you can still get ink for that thing in your country.

Our church just had a rummage sale last week and here's the stuff that didn't sell, we thought you could use it.

Brother I know we committed to support you at a certain level, but we wanted to build this family life center so the kids can have a place to play their video games and listen to their rock music, so we are having to reduce your support to make the payments.

If churches only knew how many missionaries dumped all the junk in dumpsters on their way out of town.
I listened to a Sam Gipp message last night: "Do You Hate God?"

Hate in the Bible is defined as loving someone more than someone else (think Rachel and Leah, Jacob and Esau). Accordingly, if we love anyone (or anything) more than we love God, we essentially hate God.

And if we put ourselves ahead of our idol, which is ahead of the Lord, He then becomes #3 on our priority list.

This was quite the thread to read on the heels of that. Thanks.
