Because of political correctness we lost a lot of good words, after taking the poll can you name some words that were changed for PC reasons?
I hate all things PC so I voted Housewife, plus it was good for my mother and it is good for me. Male chauvinist? No!
I voted for "stay at home mom," but God knows it wasn't because of political correctness. I once heard a non-feminist say, "Don't call me a housewife; I'm not married to my house! Call me a homemaker."
I liked that. And I think "homemaker" is a much more accurate word, because it describes what a wife really does.
But "housewife" doesn't offend me, and "stay at home mom" is kind of nice for another reason: it's just the opposite of PC. It's like a thumb in the eye of radical feminists: "Yes, I've chosen to be a stay at home mom, instead of joining the same Hellish rat race you seem to enjoy so much!"
I just wish it were more economically feasible in our current economy. I know far too many godly Christian women who are forced into the workplace simply because one income won't pay the bills. I ache for these women, and despise the preachers who put them down and saddle them with guilt.

Huh? Where, pray tell, did you come up with that, dear Brother? Surely you jest. :laughi10:
I voted house wife too.. I don't hear the term stay at home mom much though I do hear stay at home dad.
It has to be housewife, the kids are in their own homes, and she's not my mom.:laughi10:
I'm good with housewife or homemaker since I don't have an outside job and I'm not a mom.

Whatever do you mean? I was describing the attitude of a proud homemaker, talking to a radical feminist who's putting "career" above all else. That's all.
I am both - but I checked Stay at Home Mom
I am thankful to the Lord that He has allowed me to be home with our children and that we are able to make it on one income. We make do with what we have - what we can't afford (we do not have credit cards) we do not need.
I'm partial to 'helpmeet', or 'homemaker'.
I stayed at home with my kids until the youngest was almost 3, then I went to work part time on the offshift, so we could afford to pay the bills.
While I stayed at home, we did not have health insurance nor a telephone (pre-cell phone days).
Looking back, I wish I could have stayed home and schooled them there.
I hear there are more women in the work place now than men so I think you need a new poll. :laughi10:
