What do you tell someone who claims to be saved that has told you this..

"Bible account of Sodom and Gomorrah could be a myth"

"God Didn't write the Bible"

"The Bible was translated from stories"

This is all I knew to say.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
And he claims to be saved?

I'd probably ask him, "if you were to die today and God said, 'why should I let you into My Heaven,' what would you say?"

Those aren't the kinds of things truly born-again Christians say....
It's my brother who claims to be saved but I would say is backsliden. They stopped going to church last fall. He is a new Christian. Hasn't been alot of growth. He was only in church for a few months. But evidently he doesn't believe the entire Bible.
It was really surprising.. those are things he would say to me before he got saved.
Oh, so he's never been "rooted and grounded" in the faith. Sounds like he needs to be discipled, then. A short discipleship course like "The ABC's of Christian Growth" might help him. That's even something you could do with him, if he'd go for it.
No he has not been rooted. He did attend church for several months and I don't know what he learned there. He was only going to one service a week.. The Sunday Morning worship service. It would have done him good to be in Sunday School and Wednesday Bible study. When he was in a rehab center and churches would come in and do church. He liked the women preachers. So I would say any Bible he got there was probably very liberal. Then after he got out of the hospital he started attending the American NIV Baptist Church I mentioned.

What is the ABC's of Christian Growth? Is it a book?
The ABC's of Christian Growth is a fill-in-the-blanks book by Robert J. Sargent. I've gone through it a couple of times. It uses the KJB.

Jack Chick also has a good little book called The Next Step

There are lots of books and resources available, but nothing can replace personal one to one discipleship.

Exactly right. The ABC's of Christian Growth is intended to be done as one to one discipleship, actually.
Both of those books look good.. Think I'll get them both.. Wonder why I cant go to my local Christian Store and get either...

Laura the link you gave me.. That is where I bought my Defined King James Bible.. It was $12 for a black hard cover.. The cheapest place I ever found it. When I got it they also sent a CD message from their church, tracts and several other goodies.. I highly recommend them.

Here is the link to what I bought from them last year. http://www.baptist-books.com/category/DEF.html
