I was raised in a Christian home. Both of my Grandparents are/were Baptist Pastors. My mother's dad Pastored a small church in Bloomington, MN (suburb of Minneapolis) when I was born, but he left shortly after this.
So, i was always in church. I do not remember any particular Sunday School lesson that really "woke me up" or anything like that. I don't remember any particular sermon either.
All I remember is that as a 5 year old boy, I knew I was going to Hell. I didn't want to go. I told my mother that I was lost, and that I wanted to be saved. She said, "OK" but then said, "let's talk about it tomorrow." I think this was wise on her part, since kids raised in homes like ours can do things for pretense.
So the next day, I came to her again, and she sat down with me at the kitchen table, and showed me some basic verses from the Bible about sin and salvation. Then we prayed, and I asked the Lord to save me.

It was that simple.

As i read the stories of other members here, I can only thank my Saviour for putting me in a Christian home, keeping me in a good church, and even in Christian School from k-12. They were not Bible believers, so I never grew as I should have, but I did get a good solid foundation of doctrine and Bible stories etc. drilled into my little head at a young age. I was backslidden most of those years, and nothing changed me until the Holy Spirit convinced me about the KJB - that's when I gave my life to him...but that is a long story, so maybe another time on that one!

My heart goes out to those who do not have the privileges the Lord gave me!
It always amazes me how the Lord uses such different methods with each of us. I was saved at 29 and grew up with no Christians that I knew of in my family.

He certainly knows the best approach to use with each of us!
