When I questioned that 'submit' reference, I was gently shown this Scripture:

"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." (Genesis 3:16)

We desire to please our husbands, and are ruled by them.

The old woman doesn't like it at all, but the new creature doesn't find it onerous to submit...

...at least not often...

LOL.

Oh for sure, wives do have the greater responsibility to submit, which I didn't explain clearly in my post (William clarified my thoughts in his post), but there are definite times that the husband is to hearken to his wife as well - when God tells him to.
I wound up all over the Bible this morning!

I've been reading at least one chapter of Proverbs daily, corresponding to the date (read the 15th chapter on the 15th of the month, etc.) but yesterday I got really interested in some comparisons and read the rest of the book.

So, I was back in Proverbs 16 this morning and the phrase 'mercy and truth' caught my eye, and I went back and started highlighting every instance of 'mercy and truth' with a blue highlighter. When I got to Proverbs 20:28 I saw that the next reference was in Hosea 4:1, but in reverse: 'truth' and 'mercy'. So I skipped over to Hosea 4 to read it.

And I got deep into Hosea...

Hosea 2:10
Cross reference that last part to John 10:28

Hosea 2:23
Addressed to future Gentile believers, us! Woowoo

Hosea 4:1
No knowledge of God, no truth, no mercy (all go hand in hand?)

Hosea 4:2
Sounds like the local news...

Hosea 4:3
Aha! The reason why we are facing 'global warming' and pollution and extinction of species!

Hosea 4:6 (familiar verse)
They are destroyed not because they do not have access to knowledge, but because they have rejected the knowledge of God, the law of their God.

Hosea 4:12
Worshiping idols

Hosea 4:13
Made me think of the 'green' people, the 'treehuggers'

Hosea 4:14
God does not punish those who are sinning, but allow them to continue on until they 'fall'.

Hosea 4:18
The rules love to get more and more (taxes? power?)

Hosea 6:5
They are slain by the words of God's mouth...think upon Revelation and the two edged sword that comes out of the mouth of the Lord Jesus when He returns!

Hosea 6:9
Made me think of the RCC (Roman Catholic Church)

Hosea 10:3
They have no king...but Caesar! See John 19:15

Hosea 13:4
There is no Saviour aside from God, the Lord Jesus Christ - see John 14:6

Hosea 13:14
Read it and rejoice!

Okay, back to the Proverbs thread, now...
