Celeron chips are not major heat producers in the sense it is a weakness. But if you have an AMD and a Celeron of same speed. The Celeron will run hotter by 10-15 degrees.
It could have been a heat issue which took down your computer, but it could also be something as simple as a bad video card. The computer guy will be able to tell.
AMD vs Intel is just like Ford vs Chevy. People prefer one over the other and will not change. I am an AMD guy, I don't like to use Intel. Though my laptops have Intel chips. For my main computer I want an AMD, just my personal choice. My main reason for this is I don't like supporting the big name companies, I believe in a level playing field. The other reason is AMD's are also cheaper in comparison to Intel.
Hope this helps,
Gary

I bought the computer last night, and was in the process of uploading my pictures to webshots, when the hard drive flickered and for all intents and purposes, died.
Good timing, thank you Lord.
So, we're up and running on the new computer, except for the printer. There didn't appear to be a printer cable in the box, go figure.
Be back after church!
I'm sorry your other computer went kaput, but don't you just love God's timing?
Sister Lor,
I went and checked out the specs on your new computer. Wowsers kiddo, ya done real good. Of course we know it was William there with you with his rippling physique which helped convince the salesman to give you the best deal.
I also think the shirts had a lot to do with it.
And the best part of the new computer, now you have SOUND!!!
Love ya,
Gary

Yes, that was really the key to the transaction. The salesman wanted to load her down with some off-brand garbage that she didn't need, but I slapped him around a little, and after he dried his tears he straightened up.
Well the desk top is dead. the computer guy at my wife's work thinks he knows why. He asked her if we have a lot of power outages.. Well we have some. Not a lot but seems more than anywhere else we have ever lived. The power will sometimes go out for 5 to ten seconds then right back on. He suggested getting one of those things that has a battery back up so you can turn the computer off correctly if there is a power outage. hmmm.. Not in a hurry to get a new machine right away. We are saving for vacation in June right now. So we'll limp a;ong on this dinosaur lap top we have.
Well off to church..
Yep, that will kill'em dead. We've lost several computers and printers at church for that very reason. Power going out is not what kills'em its the voltage spikes when it comes back on.
