I am so tired, I'm exhausted and the week is not nearly over.

My pickup was broke down, our old suburban (that we need to sell) needed a major tune up, my little rice-burner was broke down, and then we lost 3rd & 4th gears in our good suburban. I was somewhat discouraged, but I praise God for many reasons. We still have our home and our church, our family is together, and the bills are paid. We have plenty to eat and we are blessed beyond measure.

So far we've fixed a leaking head gasket, had a transmission rebuilt, replaced a fuel pump assembly, replaced a pinion seal, bought 2 tires, replaced spark plugs & wires, replaced a fuel filter, replaced 4 air filters, replaced an oil filter and oil, replaced a radiator, replaced 2 belts, flushed and refilled 3 radiators, flushed and refilled 2 transmissions, fixed an A/C, replaced 2 door handles, replace spark plugs, greased fittings, replaced 3 batteries, replaced 4 shocks, replaced a water pump, and a fan assembly.

We still have 8 shocks to replace, a radiator to flush and refill, 3 oil filters and oil to replace, spark plugs & wires to replace, 2 sets of brake discs to replace, 2 A/C systems to charge, 4 more tires to buy, a radiator to flush and refill, 2 differentials to check, a standard transmission to check, a door handle to replace and a power window motor, and an untold number of grease fittings to fill.

I think when its all said and done, I'll have spent over $2500, but saved several thousands by doing most of the work myself, I did have to hired a man to rebuild the transmission. But it would have cost us easily $5000 - 7000 to have all the work done by a mechanic.

I praise God and give him the honour and glory for giving me the skills, ability, and tools to maintain my own vehicles. I praise God for a step-dad who was willing to drive from Georgia to help me get the work done. My own dad won't even speak to us or acknowledge us and I praise God for giving us a real man to stand in his stead. I praise God for his provision and supplying the resources to accomplish this work.

So anyway, my time has been very limited to participate in the forum and probably will be for several more days. I pray that once we are done I can sell my rice-burner and the older suburban.

I heard about you Texans, y'all collect vehicles whether they work or don't, don't y'all, you probably have a handful of Cadillacs sticking in the ground head first in back don't ya. Get another hobby. :laughi10:

On a serious note: Thank God for giving such a hero to your wife and kids, all kidding aside for a moment.

Caddies no, but I hear there's a bunch of people wanting to do that to their Toyotas!!

Gary

The caddies stuck in the ground, are actually in Nebraska. The fellow calls it "Carhenge", because they are arranged like "Stonehenge" in England.

Can you imagine, if the Lord delayed His coming for a few thousand years, what 'scientists' would have to say about what was left of this 'Carhenge'??? ;)
Brother Daniel, I will be praying for you in this endeavor.

I'm a mechanic's daughter, so I do understand a bit of what you've been doing...which is a tremendous amount of work!

And I thank the Lord for not only your ability/knowhow to do the work, but for the support of family, blood related or not.

God bless you.

Not to MY Toyota you don't!!!

People can say all they like about the recent issues, but I have had wonderful experience with my Toyota, and my son's. They're good dependable cars.

Ever wonder why the government is so gung ho to 'get' Toyota? Hmm

Well since I'm not used to doing this kind of work, I have sore muscles that I forgot existed. My hands are all cut up and bruised from busting knuckles on metal when bolts break loose. Today I was tiptoed on a step ladder with a leg in the air, trying to maintain my balance with my head upside down in the engine, trying to thread a spark plug by touch and feel since I couldn't see where it went.

I sure am glad I don't have to do this kind of work day in and day out, but if I did it more often I know I wouldn't have so much to do at the same time.
